Q. What is my 6-digit
Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
A. Student PINs are the month, day and year of your birth until you request that it be changed?
Example: If your birthday is January 10, 1980, your 6-digit PIN is 011080.
A zero
must precede all single digit numbers.
Q. What is my student identification (ID) number?
A. Your student identification (ID) number is your 9-digit Social Security number. If you were assigned a number other than your Social Security number by Admissions and Records and you have forgotten that number, you may retrieve that number from the Admissions and Records Office. A picture ID is required.
Q. Which transcripts will I need to submit to Lamar State College-Orange?
A. FIRST TIME STUDENTS -- Individuals
who have never attended an accredited
college or university:
- High School Graduates -- You are required to submit official high school transcripts indicating date of graduation.
- General Education Development (GED) recipients -- You are required to submit official copies of your GED scores.
B. TRANSFER STUDENTS -- Individuals who have attended or are attending another
accredited college or university who have FEWER than 15 hours of college
credit are required to submit official high school transcripts, indicating
date of graduation, and complete official transcripts from all accredited
colleges and universities attended.
If you have MORE than 15 hours of college credit, you are required to
submit complete and official transcripts from all accredited colleges
and universities attended. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SENT
DIRECTLY TO LAMAR STATE COLLEGE-ORANGE FROM THE ISSUING INSTITUTION.
Q. Do I have to wait to receive a bill before I pay my tuition and fees?
A. No, you do not have to wait to receive a bill. Many students will never receive a bill in the mail. It is your responsibility to make payment by the appropriate deadline. Please refer to the class schedule for payment deadlines.
Q.Will I receive my grades in the mail?
A. No, Lamar State College-Orange does not mail grade reports. You may retrieve and print your grades via the On-line Student Information System or listen to your grades via the TouchNet Telephone System. Students may also request a print out of their grades at the Admissions and Records Office, Rm. 341 on the third floor of the Ron E. Lewis Library.
A. Official transcripts can be obtained by three methods: FAX and telephone, mail or in person. Every effort is made to fulfill requests within 24 hours.
Q. Can someone else pick up my transcript?
A. Yes, you may send a trusted individual to pick up your transcript. That person will be required to provide a written statement from you, allowing him or her to retrieve your transcript. The written statement should include your full name, Social Security number, date of birth and signature. The individual will also need to provide picture identification.
A. You may drop a class by meeting with an advisor through the last day of schedule changes. After the last day of schedule changes and through the last day to drop, you may drop a class by filling out a Drop Form from Admissions and Records. The drop form must be signed by the instructor and an advisor and then be submitted to Admissions and Records for processing. Please see the class schedule or academic calendar for specific schedule change and drop dates.
Q. If I repeat a course and earn a better grade, will it automatically replace the lower grade?
A. No, you must complete and submit a signed Grade Replacement Form to Admissions and Records by the 12th class day for fall and spring semesters and by the fourth class day for summer sessions.

Q. When do I apply or reapply for financial aid?
A. As a general rule, you should complete the FAFSA each spring after you file your tax return. The financial aid award year begins with the Summer I semester each year and ends the following spring.
Q. What is the Title IV school code?
A. The Title IV school code for Lamar State College-Orange is 016748. This number allows us to receive your information electronically.
Q. I have completed the FAFSA and received my Student Aid Report. What do I do now?
A. You should contact the Financial Aid Office either by phone or in person. We may need other information to complete your financial aid file.
Q. I received a PIN number in the mail. What should I do with this?
A. Keep this number for your records. This PIN number will allow you access the information you submitted on your FAFSA, either via the Internet or by phone.
Q. Do I have to use my parents' income information on the FAFSA?
A. The federal guidelines state that until you are 24 years of age, you must use your parents' information unless you are married, have a child that you support or are a veteran of the armed services. If there are extenuating circumstances or you have lived on your own with no support from your parents, you may ask the Financial Aid Office to grant you a dependency override. This will require you to obtain a dependency override packet from the Financial Aid Office and to submit supporting documentation.
Q. When can I pick up my residual check?
A. If you have signed your award letter and returned it in a timely manner, your residual check will usually be available on the first day of classes for a semester.
